Comedy V Tragedy What’s been going on?
Sometimes life can lift you up and sometimes it can knock the wind right out of you. I’ve been trying to deal with two very harsh extremes in the past while. Making the world a happier place is tough when your life has been turned upside down. It takes some time to put the pieces back together. I’ve truly been taking my own sweet time, which was totally necessary. Not to say I haven’t been taking care of business, just some more important business.
So whats been happening?????? Well I went to the Banff TV Fest, way fun, Spent tons of time “time coding” miles of footage for a second first episode, cause you really need to get it right the first time!!!!!
I finally got the Comedy Cruiser on the road, hmm maybe you’ve seen it. The company’s marketing machine, The Comedy Cruiser, AKA Lucy, as in I love Lucy,,,, has been to lots of Show & Shines and Parades all over this fine Province of ours. Lil pre marking before the launch. I’ve been promoting the show at lots of more business like events and taken in a few Vancouver Board of Trade Boot camps, very interesting. You get to sit in one of those United Nation looking round rooms and you get your own lil microphone. It so hard to not do a sound check and bust a few jokes, but i had my serious hat on!!!!! I haven’t been performing as much as perusal so I signed up for a private session with Eddie Brill, the talent coordinator for the David Letterman Show. Just a day to refine my second season material which I have been working on as well. Figure i’d pay a New Yorker to kick my @$$ for a day…..
Recently I have been trying to make up for a crappy summer last year by going away every long weekend and taking in almost every concert at GM Place this year. My friend Cheryl, ( from forever) is a concert fanatic. So we always have ridiculous seats right up front. I’ve had the good fortune of checking out Eric Clapton, Tragically Hip, ZZ Top, Stray Cats,( flashback to high school moment for me) and the Pretenders. Last week we checked out Three Dog Night, I think i was the youngest one there !!. Club Seats are in order for Def Leppard and Styx coming up, way fun…. Hi to Mitchell at GM Place…
I took a trip over to the island to see some family, I absolutely hate the BC Ferry System. I have some cool new material about them floating waste of cash the Ministry of Highways likes to call a highway. I call it highway robbery For one, just for starters, you as a driver are no longer included with your car. I was tempted to just send over the car and walk on… There’s gas levy’s, 5 hour waits and 8 dollar salmon sandwiches that suck. That’s not the punchline, I’m just venting now.
What else???? I am finally having my screening next month. I am very much looking forward to it. I have one more trip to the editer and then he probably wont return my calls!!!!
